The discovery of this set of statues in a hidden valley on Easter Island has researchers puzzled. One possible explanation is that Easter Island was a floating island that originated off the coast of South America and centuries ago hung up on a volcanic peak in the South Pacific. This is the first indication that llamas may have been native to Easter Island. As well as Peru and Chile, llamas are presently found in Mount Lehman in British Columbia.
We recently visited Easter Island and sure enough, we were able to locate one of the llama moais . . .
